Volunteers from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse serve their communities with pride, dedication, and on horseback. Brevard Sheriff, Wayne Ivey, introduced the Mounted Posse back in July 2013. Posse volunteers must provide and maintain their own horses but serve as a valuable asset to the Sheriff's office at no cost to taxpayers. Posse volunteers assist with numerous operations including: search and rescue, missing persons, child abductions, crowd control at major events, and special appearances at county functions. Recently, the Mounted Posse kept holiday shoppers safe by maintaining a watchful lookout at local malls.
