The Netherlands Ban on the Use of Wild Animals in Circuses is Now In Effect

On September 15, 2015, after nine years of campaigning, a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses went into effect in the Netherlands. This ban protects animals such as giraffes, elephants, tigers, lions, zebras, sea lions, and primates. Wilde Dieren de Tent Uit, the association which campaigned for the ban, is offering aid to circuses who need assistance locating new species-specific homes for the animals.
